Best Locations for Big Sur Engagement Photos

There’s truly nothing like Big Sur. Between the crashing waves, dramatic cliffs, and misty coastal skies, this place feels straight out of a dream and Charlene & Eric’s Big Sur engagement photos were the perfect reminder why I love photographing here so much!

If you're dreaming of a destination engagement session  that’s equal parts adventurous, romantic, and unforgettable, Big Sur is seriously calling your name. Keep scrolling for all the inspiration, plus my favorite tips and location ideas to help you plan your own Big Sur engagement photos!

Why Big Sur is a Dream for Engagement Photos

Big Sur has this way of making you feel small in the best way. The landscapes are huge, rugged, and wildly beautiful and that dramatic scenery photographs SO well! Whether you’re wandering along the cliffs, standing barefoot on a rocky beach, or snuggled up under the coastal mist, Big Sur gives you that cinematic, storybook vibe that’s hard to find anywhere else.

Plus, if you’re already thinking about a California coast wedding, engagement session, or wedding? Big Sur gives you the perfect mix of stunning views, privacy, and that laid-back West Coast vibe we all love.

Charlene & Eric’s Big Sur Engagement Session

Even though this session happened a while ago, it’s still one of my favorites! Charlene & Eric were total naturals in front of the camera, and Big Sur’s dramatic cliffs and soft, moody skies gave their photos such an effortless, romantic feel.

One of the things I love about shooting here is that you don't have to over-plan. We just embraced the scenery, followed the light, and let the coast do its thing. It made the entire shoot feel easy, authentic, and true to them.
