HOW I PHOTOGRAPH

For those who don't know, “Joy” is actually my middle name and it feels fitting that it has become such a meaningful part of the way I work. I want the experience of being photographed to feel just as good as the photographs themselves: relaxed, intentional, and genuinely enjoyable.

I’ve always believed that the best photographs happen when you feel comfortable enough to forget about the camera. My role is to create that space for you. I’ll offer direction when it’s helpful, anticipate what’s happening around you, and step in when you need an extra hand, while still giving you plenty of room to simply be present.

My background in wedding planning has taught me to pay attention to the details beyond the photographs. I know how quickly a wedding day moves, what tends to come next, and when a little extra guidance can make all the difference. You can trust me to be calm when things get busy, attentive to the details, and fully present when it matters.

My work lives somewhere between documentary and editorial - the beautifully composed alongside the completely unplanned.

I want you to have photographs that feel considered and elevated, alongside the fleeting moments you couldn't have planned if you tried. The quiet glance, the way your friends are laughing at dinner, your parents watching from the aisle, and the portraits that make you stop for a second because you simply love the way you look.

Ultimately, I want your photographs to feel like you. Not overly posed or produced, but thoughtfully photographed and full of feeling - images you'll be just as drawn to years from now as you are when you first see them.
